The Big 3
#1) Back to Normal—June 13th
Recently, our church elders set a new target date for fully returning to normal: June 13, 2021. Getting back to normal includes returning to one Sunday morning worship service.
Beginning June 13, our Sunday morning schedule will be:
- 9:00 Sunday Morning Worship
- 10:30 Sunday School
We added our second worship service on June 28, 2020 to allow more people to attend with better physical distancing. It has always been our goal to return to one service and we believe the time is right. The local outlook is very good. Case numbers are continuing to drop rapidly, and vaccines have been available for those 16 and older since April 5.
Our message and prayer throughout this time has been that our church would be unified. That continues today. As Paul wrote,
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit . . . but in humility count others more significant than yourselves . . . Let each of you look not only to his own interests . . . but also to the interests of others. (Phil 2:3-4)
#2) Summer Sunday School—Starts June 6th
Ages 2-5 Summer Sunday School Classes
This summer we will continue to offer Sunday school for children ages 2-5 in the Children’s Church room. This is in addition to Children’s Church during the first service. If you have children who were in Kindergarten or above this last year, we encourage you to attend Pastor Dan’s Family Sunday School Class.
Family Sunday School Class
This is a class for anyone from first grade through the most elderly among us. Families will learn together while also connecting with the rest of this family of disciples. We will walk through the first twelve questions of the “New City Catechism”, which focuses on God, Creation & Fall, and the 10 Commandments. Our time together should also help parents continue discipling their families in these truths throughout the rest of the week. Contact Pastor Dan with any questions. We are meeting downstairs in the youth room.
Knowing God—Adult Sunday School Class
“Love the Lord your God with all our heart…soul…mind, and…strength.” (Mk. 12:30) This commandment assumes we need to know God. It also implicitly asks us if we want to know God more deeply and intimately. Do we know him like we think we do? Like we want to? Come and explore with us God’s attributes, and let our doctrine turn into doxology! We are meeting in the Fellowship Hall.
#3) Kids Bike Rodeo & Races: Volunteers Needed
We need your help! Next Saturday, June 5th, we’ll turn our back lawn into a racetrack and our parking lot into a 12-station kids bike rodeo. Friends, family, neighbors, and the Sioux Falls community are invited to join us for a wonderful morning of riding and racing, followed by lunch, bike giveaways, Gospel proclamation, and an invitation to explore matters of faith with our church. Please visit Rodeoandraces.com for more information. To serve, please click this link or contact Suzanne Anderson (605-214-4237).
