God amazed us again this summer in so many ways! Hosting our first ever CYIA (Christian Youth in Action) camp was both a step of faith and a foundational ministry piece in the summer. Thirteen young people at tended this camp making up 25% of our VBS teams. We are already planning to hold a CYIA camp in May of 2018 and hope to have 50% of our VBS leaders CYIA trained. Two of our college staff who attended CYIA camp are going on to Warrington MO in a few weeks for additional CEF training. It is amazing how God pro vides in ways far more abundant than you can imagine. With the help of 3 teams who joined us from Ridge view Bible Church, Wheatland Bible Church and Frontier School of the Bible, we were able to hold 22 VBSs in communities around Northeast NE reaching a total of 251 children. As the VBS staff gathered around a bonfire at the end the first week of VBSs we heard a number of college age staff give glory to God for allowing them to lead a child to Jesus for the first time.
While we like to have at least four college-aged young men commit to serve as
summer missionaries each summer, this year we only had one, Dennis Gothier. However, God filled in the gaps with godly young men each week, so that even during our largest camp (Junior B), when Dennis was sick, all of our male staff needs were met! One afternoon during camp, I challenged one of our guy leaders to review the wordless book colors and message of the gospel that he had learned at CYIA camp. I encouraged him to share this with one of his campers—a second year kid whose dorm leader had shared the gospel with him the year before with no response. This year, the camper was ready to respond to the Gospel and receive Christ as his Savior after Daniel shared with him. This is one of my favorite of many God sightings throughout the summer. We are looking for summer missionaries, head cooks, nurses, and maintenance people to join the team for this next summer. It’s not too early to start pray ing about whether God might have you join us for a week or more in the summer of 2018. We are blessed by God’s great provision for this ministry through your prayers, involvement and financial suport. Thank you!
